BAD PASSWORD: it is based on a dictionary word

Basic Linux Command Example: 

 

BAD PASSWORD: it is based on a dictionary word.

 

   The example below show that the BAD PASSWORD: it is based on a dictionary word message appear when we try to change current Linux password on Linux Fedora system.  The message appear when we try to use the dictionary base word as password.

When we try to change password current password to fedora we get BAD PASSWORD: it is based on a dictionary word message, and we decide to change the password to something little harder (strong password) to 'f3d0r4' but the system still give us the BAD PASSWORD: it is based on a dictionary word message..

 

use 'fedora' and 'f3d0r4' as example...

Changing password for linux.

(current) UNIX password:   <-- type in your current password and hit 'Enter' key

New password:   <-- type in 'fedora' or 'f3d0r4' as password and hit 'Enter' key

Retype new password:   <-- Retype password again and hit 'Enter' key

BAD PASSWORD: it is based on a dictionary word

Password:

passwd: Have exhausted maximum number of retries for service

now try just try to change the password  to 'f33d00r44', the message of BAD PASSWORD: it is based on a dictionary word should not appear again... lesson learn here: if you want password good password on Linux Fedora system... make sure it more than 6 characters long and not dictionary base password... just add some character to the word that easy for you to remember as show on the example here.
